Le projet de recherche interventionnelle «STOP» (Sevrage Tabagique à l’aide des Outils dédiés selon la Préférence) a pour objectif principal d’analyser l’efficacité d’un accompagnement au sevrage tabagique par des professionnel.les de santé basé sur les choix des participant.es.

Le projet comporte une étude pilote et un essai randomisé contrôlé (ERC) pragmatique. Cette intervention cible des fumeur.ses quotidien.nes souhaitant arrêter de fumer, ayant de difficultés socio-économiques.

Pour l’ECR, Le recrutement aura lieu dans une vingtaine de structures de santé en France : des cabinets médicaux de ville, des maisons de santé, des centres municipaux de santé, des centres de soins d’accompagnement et de prévention en addictologie, et des centres hospitaliers.

STOP est coordonné par l’équipe de recherche en épidémiologie sociale (ERES) de l’Inserm (investigatrice principale Fabienne El-Khoury, co-investigatrice : Maria Melchior), en partenariat avec la Société Francophone de tabacologie (SFT) et la Société de Formation du Thérapeutique du Généraliste (SFTG). Le projet STOP est financé par l’institut National du Cancer (INCA).

The interventional research project "STOP" (tobacco cessation using preference-based tools) examines the effectiveness of a smoking cessation intervention centered on the patient’s preference.

The project is comprised of a pilot study and a pragmatic randomized controlled trial (RCT). The intervention targets daily smokers wishing to quit smoking, and who are experiencing socio-economic difficulties.

The recruitment for the RCT will take place in around 20 health structures in France: municipal health centers, private clinics, addiction prevention centers, and hospitals.

STOP is coordinated by Inserm's research team in social epidemiology (ERES) (PI: Fabienne El-Khoury, co-PI: Maria Melchior), in partnership with the French-speaking society of smoking cessation specialists (Société Francophone de tabacologie (SFT)), and the General practitioners society for therapeutic training (the Société du Formation du Therapeutique du Généraliste (SFTG)). STOP is funded by the French national cancer institute (INCA).
